A man and a woman were arrested and charged on Monday with assaulting David A. Paterson, a former governor of New York, and his stepson, the police said, two days after the arrests of two boys who were also charged in the street attack.
The man, Travor Nurse, 40, and the woman, Diamond Minter, 34, were charged with second-degree gang assault, the police said. Mr. Nurse was also charged with injuring a person who is 65 years old or older.
Mr. Nurse and Ms. Minter, who fled the scene of the Friday night attack in Manhattan, work for the New York City Housing Authority, the police said.
The boys, who are 12 and 13, were also charged with gang assault, the police said. Both boys, accompanied by their parents, turned themselves in to the police, according to Sean Darcy, a spokesman for Mr. Paterson.
A third person, also a minor, went to the police but was not charged in the attack, according to an internal police report.
It was unclear on Monday whether Mr. Nurse and Ms. Minter knew the boys who were arrested.
Mr. Paterson, 70, said at a news conference on Saturday that he was punched in the shoulder and several times in the face, while his stepson Anthony Sliwa, 20, was knocked to the ground and needed stitches to his lower lip.
