As South Floridians prepare for heavy rains and floods expected from Hurricane Milton, which strengthened Monday to a Category 5 storm taking aim at Florida’s Gulf Coast, South Florida governments are distributing free sandbags as long as supplies last.

Here’s where you can find them as of Tuesday:

Miami-Dade County

Miami-Dade County residents can pick up a maximum of four sandbags per household from 7 a.m. until supplies run out at four regional parks on Tuesday . The sites are drive-thru:

▪ Amelia Earhart Park: 401 E 65th St, Hialeah, FL 33013 (anticipates closing by 2 p.m.)

▪ Oak Grove Park: 690 NE 159th St., Miami, FL 33162 (anticipates closing by 2 p.m.)

▪ Gwen Cherry Park: 7090 NW 22nd Ave., Miami, FL 33147 (anticipates closing by 2 p.m.)

City of Miami

Sandbags will be available at the below locations until 6 p.m. Tuesday City of Miami residents have to show identification to receive sandbags:

▪ Grapeland Heights Park: 1550 NW 37th Ave., Miami

▪ Jose Marti Park Gym: 434 SW Third Ave., Miami

▪ Little Haiti Park: 315 NE 62nd St.

▪ Douglas Park 2755 SW 37th Ave

Miami Beach

Free sandbags will be available at two locations from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in Miami Beach. Residents are required to show proof of residency via a government-issued ID or utility bill. There is a limit of four sandbags per household, while supplies last and weather permitting.

Miami Beach residents can pick up the bags at the following two surface parking lot locations:

▪ 2100 Collins Ave., east of Collins Park

▪ 225 79th St.

The city reminds residents not to empty sandbags onto beaches or into drains. After the flood, residents should place used sandbags curbside during the city-announced pickup period.

▪ North Miami Motor Pool, 1855 NE 142nd St., North Miami

Broward County

Sandbags will be distributed from 9 a.m. Tuesday until supplies last for residents of the Broward Municipal Services District at the following location:

▪ Reverend Samuel Delevoe Memorial Park, 2520 NW Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale

Hollywood

Hollywood residents must bring their own shovels and their own bags to create their own sandbags. For those who need bags, they can be picked up at the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Administrative office, 1405 S. 28th Ave. from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Bags will be distributed while supplies last. There is a 10-bag limit per household.

▪ Sand will be given out at Driftwood Community Center, 3000 N. 67th Ave.

Miramar

The city of Miramar will distribute sandbags between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday at three locations:

▪ Sunset Lakes Community Center, 2801 SW 186th Ave.;

▪ Lakeshore Park, 8501 Sherman Circle

▪ Multi-Service Complex, 6700 Miramar Parkway.

There is a limit of four bags per household, and proof of residency is required.

Pembroke Pines

Pembroke Pines will be handing out free sandbags from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Residents must be in the car line by 3:30 p.m. and there is a limit of five bags per household. Proof of residency is required.

▪ Pembroke Pines Health Park, 8300 West Cypress Dr.

Lauderhill

The city of Lauderhill will have sand and sandbags available to city residents on a self-serve basis from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday while supplies last. Residents must bring identification showing city residency and will be limited to five bags per household.

The sand and sandbags will be located at the following locations:

▪ Veterans Park, 7600 NW 50th St.

▪ John Mullin Park, 2000 NW 55th Ave.

▪ St. George Park, 3501 NW Eighth St.
