And now, with her famous son behind bars at MDC in Brooklyn awaiting trial on various shocking charges, Janice Combs is breaking her silence.
Through her lawyer, Fort Lauderdale-based Natlie G. Figgers, Combs (née Smalls) released a statement to various media outlets on Sunday.
The former model turned businesswoman says the rapper, who was indicted on three charges — racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution — is not “a monster.”

“To bear witness what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words,” wrote the Harlem native in the statement, which is also on Figgers’ Instagram Stories. “Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story, especially when that truth is outside the norm or is too complicated to be believed.”
Janice — who also had a daughter Keisha with husband, the late Melvin Earl Combs — thinks she knows the reason behind all the mogul’s troubles: The quickie settlement with his ex girlfriend Cassie Ventura after she filed a lawsuit alleging years of abuse.

The settlement with Ventura, whom Combs was seen viciously attacking in a resurfaced 2016 surveillance video months later, resulted in a “ricochet effect” and “an admission of guilt,” Janice said.
“Watching the world make jokes and laugh at my son’s life crumbling before our eyes is something I can never forget,” continued the 83 year old’s statement. “It is truly agonizing to watch the world turn against my son so quickly and easily over lies and misconceptions, without ever hearing his side or affording him the opportunity to present his side.”
The stress of all the legal travails appeared to be getting to mom back in July when she was briefly hospitalizedwinner club, reportedly suffering from chest pains. Janice had been spotted at Diddy’s Star Island mansion in the weeks after the feds raided in March it as part of the sex trafficking investigation. Her health status is unclear.
